Youth With A Mission is a global movement, started by a group of believers of different cultures and ages and Christian traditions, with the purpose of serving Jesus all over the world.
YWAM was started in 1960 by Loren Cunningham in California, USA. The earliest vision was to push young Christians to practically serve and contribute to society by holding onto the examples of Christ's selflessness, faith and love, while preaching the gospel to all nations.
Through evangelism, pioneering work, discipleship training, community service/mercy ministries, YWAM has been able to train and equip Christians and short term missions staff all over the world. Today, YWAM is in over 180 different countries, with over 1,100 bases, and about 18,000 full-time workers ranging from 8 to 80 years old. YWAM has become the largest interdenominational missions organization in the world, doing both evangelistic ministries as well as community development/mercy ministries. Also, according to God's first call, from our founder down to every staff member all over the world, all are volunteers without paid salary.
